ITINERARY

1

Day 1. Arrival to Madrid

We meet you at the airport, and then transfer you to the hotel that we have selected for you. You will have the afternoon free to rest or explore the city and in the evening we will meet again for our welcome celebration in which we will share a delicious dinner with all the participants.

We will take advantage of this moment to get to know each other and learn a little about the Way of Santiago.

2

Day 2. Madrid - Leon - Sahagun de Campos

Meet up on the hotel lobby after breakfast to go to Chamartín station. We will travel by high-speed train from Madrid to the city of León where we will make a brief stop for rest and leisure.

We will continue to Sahagún de Campos, where we will receive our bicycles to adjust them to our needs and test them. They have to be perfect for the next day.

During the afternoon, we will have time to take a walk around the city and see its monuments.

3

Day 3. Stage 1. Sahagun de Campos - León. 60 km

Our route begins. It will be a flat stage in the Castilian moor, with a leg-breaking slide at the end.

During the stage we will have prepared several refreshment areas where you can have snacks, energy bars, isotonic drinks, water and soft drinks.

In the afternoon we will eat in a typical restaurant and we will walk through the historical places of the City of León.

4

Day 4. Stage 2. León - Astorga. 55 km

It will be our last stage on the flat terrain, before entering the mountains that will take us to Bierzo, a valley of vineyards.

We will cross a Roman bridge with 20 eyes, and next to it we will be able to have our snack. Then the roads will be winding, with some climbs, but nothing that we can’t easily cope with.

In the afternoon, before eating, we will contemplate the episcopal palace of Gaudí and other works of art in Astorga.

Day 5. Stage 3. Astorga - Ponferrada. 60 km

After about 10 flat kms. to warm up, the mountain begins. We will start the ascent to the Cruz de Ferro mountain pass. At this stop, we will perform a small ritual typical of pilgrims.

Then we will have 14 km of fantastic descent, to reach Ponferrada and its Templar castle.

We will have our Picnic next to the Molinaseca river, and if the weather is good, we will dive in its waters.

3

Day 6. Stage 4. Ponferrada - O Cebreiro. 65 km

This stage will pass through the valley of the Valcarce River, between vineyards, cherry trees and chestnut trees.

We will now enter Galicia, going through a demanding mountain pass. Our stage will end in a beautiful pre-Romanesque town called O Cebreiro.

In this place we will have a special surprise for everyone. It will be a day to always remember.

4

Day 7. Stage 5. O Cebreiro - Portomarin. 65 km

We will start our stage going down the mountain. Meanwhile, we can see how the landscape changes completely.

We will contemplate the impressive monastery of Samos in the middle of a beautiful valley.

Then we will cross Sarria, a city where pilgrims leave on foot, and we will pass through Km. 100. We will finish in Portomarín where we can visit its fortified church.

8

Day 8. Stage 6. Portomarín - Arzúa. 55 km

A stage of continuous ups and downs, all day we will go between small streams and corredoiras (paths covered by the branches of the trees).

It will be a demanding stage because we have already been pedaling for several days, but we will have our reward when we pass through Melide, the capital of the Galician Octopus, where, of course, we will taste this delicious delicacy.

9

Day 9. Stage 7. Arzúa - Santiago de Compostela. 55 km

We will have a leg-breaking road with continuous ups and downs, until we reach the last stop, the Lavacolla stop.

Then Monte do Gozo at the gates of Santiago, where we will regroup before entering together the Obradoiro Square in Santiago. Surely some tears will appear on our faces.

At night we will have our Gala Dinner to say goodbye to the Santiago’s Way.

10

Day 10. Return to Madrid

We will have the morning to enjoy the city of Santiago and buy some souvenirs.

As we know that you come from far away, we offer you a return to Madrid in Van so you can get to know more places.

Along the way, we will visit medieval towns such as Puebla de Sanabria and Cuellar. We will have lunch in a cave/cellar in Valladolid and stop in Segovia before arriving in Madrid where we will conclude our services.

For us, all the stations on the Santiago’s Way have their charm. The best time to do it depends more on your personality and tastes when traveling.

The months of May and September have pleasant weather and fewer tourists than the summer months.

Between March and April Holy Week is celebrated with many religious representations and we have the first shoots of spring.

Summer is lived from June to August, they are the hot months although normally in Galicia we do not have temperatures as high as in the rest of Spain, there is more influx of tourists and more atmosphere on the Camino.

October is the ideal month to experience a change of season and enjoy the colors of nature, the fall of the leaves and the beautiful sunsets that autumn gives us.
