ZocoCamino – Agencia de Viajes

Recharge yourself with energy walking on a medieval route

[ What is it? ]

The Santiago's Way is a set of routes that mark a path in the direction of Santiago of Compostela, where the tomb of the apostle Santiago is placed inside the Cathedral located in the Obradoiro Square.

You can explore it on foot, by bike or on horseback and it is estimated that each year it is visited by more than 400,000 people of different ages and nationalities.

Experience the contact with nature, so different but equally beautiful in each place, begin to breathe fresh air and perceive the particular smells of the vegetation, in addition to all the history of art that you’ll get to know and from which you’ll learn.

The affection and care that the people of the Santiago’s Way give to their pilgrims is unmatched, their smiles, their stories, their attention and of course their universal greeting “Buen Camino Peregrino” are a great gift for the heart.

The friendships that are woven and the experiences lived when walking are unmatched.

There are so many gifts that you get during your walk that little by little you forget about tiredness, discomfort or any physical sensation unrelated to that of someone who is discovering a wonderful new world.

When we invite you to live a VIP experience, it is not about providing you with the luxuries to which you are already accustomed. Although we have chosen the best hotels and restaurants on the route, this is not the main feature of our experience.

What really makes it VIP is the quality of our services, it is being able to provide you with the support you need at all times and not just limit ourselves to emergencies.

It is having carefully chosen the accompaniment, the lodgings and the gastronomic or cultural experiences so that you make the most of your trip and that even in the moments of rest, you live a wonderful surprise…

A few drinks around the fireplace in a medieval village, a theatrical performance, a room with a view of the square, a choice of the best local dishes, picnics in nature and visits to wonderful places not frequented by tourists.

All this and much more is what makes our trips a VIP and unforgettable experience.

Day 1. Arrival to Madrid

Welcome to Madrid!

You will have the afternoon free to rest or explore the city and in the evening we will meet for our welcome celebration in which we will share a delicious dinner with all the participants.

We will take advantage of this moment to get to know each other and learn a little about the Way of Santiago.

Day 2. Madrid - León - O Cebreiro.

Meet up in the hotel lobby after breakfast to go to the Chamartín station. We will travel by high-speed train from Madrid to the city of León where we will make a short stop for rest and leisure.

After getting to know León, we will take our Van and introduce you to the Santiago’s Way by road. We will pass through Astorga, Cruz de Ferro and Castrillo de los Polvazares, visiting the most representative monuments on our way. We will end this day in the magical pre-Romanesque village of O Cebreiro where we will sleep.

Day 3. Stage 1. Sarria- Portomarín. 22 kms

We will move to Sarria to start our next stage on foot, we will walk along different paths between chestnut trees until we see the impressive Portomarín dam.

We will visit the fortified church and have dinner with many pilgrims in the town square, followed by a good rest to prepare for the next day.

Day 4. Stage 2. Portomarín - Palas de rei. 25 Kms

At this stage we will come into contact with the Sierra Ligonde, which divides the Miño and Ulloa rivers.

At the beginning, we will have an ascent through Mount San Antonio, to continue the trip observing impressive Roman churches. Depending on the resistance and spirit of the group, we could even make a detour to visit the church of San Salvador, the valuable Cruceiro de Lameiros and old pilgrim hospitals.

Day 5. Stage 3. Palas de Rei - Melide. 17 Kms

This stage begins with a real leg-breaking challenge but one that we will enjoy a lot. Then we will cross the limits of the province of Lugo to enter A Coruña through the village of O Coto.

We will finish the stage in Melide, where the primitive path begins, as a reward, we will eat the best Galician octopus in one of the typical pulperías of the area.

Day 6. Stage 4. Melide - Arzúa. 16 kms

We continue our trip and on this day we will visit dream scenarios such as the Catasol River, to Ribadixo da Baixo and Arzúa, which connects with the Primitive Way.

In the previous stage we culminated in the capital of the octopus, in today’s stage, we will culminate in Arzúa, the capital of cheese and of course it will be one of the protagonists of our dinner.

Day 7. Stage 5. Arzúa - O pedrouzo. 22 kms

Between Arzúa and Santiago of Compostela we have almost 40 km left. For this reason, the most logical and prudent thing to do is to divide this section, making our stop to rest in O Pedrouzo or in Santa Irene.

This will be a very comfortable journey with easier slopes, it will be a day in which we will already feel tired, but our enthusiasm will prevail as we find ourselves so close to Santiago.

Day 8. Stage 6.
O Pedrouzo - Santiago of Compostela. 18 kms

We will walk along trails of fallen leaves and between eucalyptus and oak trees, reaching the last villages of O Pino.

Then Monte do Gozo at the gates of Santiago, where we will regroup before entering the Plaza del Obradoiro in Santiago together.

Surely some tears will appear on our faces. At night we will have our Gala Dinner to say goodbye to the Way.

Day 9. Return to Madrid

We will have the morning to enjoy the city of Santiago and buy some souvenirs. At noon we will meet to take the train back to Madrid where we will end our services.

You can consult with us an alternative option if you want a different return, for example joining us in the Van making stops at places of interest. This alternative option is not available on all our paths, places are limited and it is handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

For us, all the stations on the Santiago’s Way have their charm. The best time to do it depends more on your personality and tastes when traveling.

The months of May and September have pleasant weather and fewer tourists than the summer months.

Between March and April Holy Week is celebrated with many religious representations and we have the first shoots of spring.

Summer is lived from June to August, they are the hot months although normally in Galicia we do not have temperatures as high as in the rest of Spain, there is more influx of tourists and more atmosphere on the Camino.

October is the ideal month to experience a change of season and enjoy the colors of nature, the fall of the leaves and the beautiful sunsets that autumn gives us.

We have been in service for more than 5 years and we have shared this route with people from different countries: Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Chile, among others. The memories lived are in our hearts and if you want to come and live the Way with us, rest assured that you will feel part of our family.
