A VIP EXPERIENCE

CAMINO VIP BY BIKE

When we invite you to experience a VIP Camino by bike, it’s not just about providing you with the luxuries you’re already accustomed to. While we’ve selected the best hotels and restaurants along the route, this is not the main feature of our experience.

What truly makes it VIP is the quality of our services, specialized attention, and constant support. We ensure that you receive the help you need at all times, not just in emergencies.

We’ve carefully chosen every detail: the accommodations, the gastronomic and cultural experiences, and the cycling routes, so you can make the most of your journey. Even during moments of rest, we want you to experience a delightful surprise…

From drinks around a fireplace in a medieval village, to a theatrical performance, a room with views of the square, the selection of the best local dishes, picnics in nature, and visits to hidden gems that aren’t frequented by tourists.

Additionally, we provide specialized technical assistance for our bikes and e-bikes, ensuring that you’re always moving forward and enjoying every moment without mechanical worries.

All this and much more is what makes our bike tours a VIP, unforgettable experience.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

YOU WON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING: YOUR TRANSFERS, MEALS, INSURANCE, AND MORE WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF BY OUR TEAM

AN ALL-INCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE

Pilgrim Certificate

THE CREDENTIAL & COMPOSTELA

The pilgrim credential is a kind of passport that must be stamped at each stage of the route. It originated from the document issued in the Middle Ages, which served as a safe-conduct for pilgrims.

This credential is used as proof of passage to request the Compostela at the end of the pilgrimage.

With Zococamino, you won’t need to worry about these details. Your welcome kit includes the pilgrim credential, and we handle the Compostela’s presentation during the final gala dinner.

OUR PROGRAM

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Llegada a Oporto

Our staff will be at the hotel reception at the specified time to welcome you.

Afterward, we will share a dinner with a briefing to meet the other participants and provide you with the details for the next day.

We will take a walking tour of the city.

Oporto - Esposende

First stage leaving the streets of Porto and along the right bank of the Douro River’s mouth.

After just over 15 km, we will reach the Atlantic and its beaches. Throughout the day, we will have the main Atlantic beaches to our left.

We will pass through the famous fishing village and birthplace of navigators, Vila do Conde. The positive elevation gain for the stage will be 195m.

Esposende - Caminha

We will continue along the Atlantic coast, but there will be moments where we will head inland, navigating through wide paths.

The end of the stage will be located at the mouth of one of the most important rivers on the Iberian Peninsula, the Miño River. A navigable river that serves as the natural border between Portugal and Spain.

The positive elevation gain for the stage is 480m.

Caminha - Valença Do Minho

The stage will run along both banks of the Miño River, and we will cross the Spanish-Portuguese border. We will have the opportunity to visit the Fortaleza de Valença do Minho.

It will be a comfortable day, passing through small Portuguese villages, with no difficulties due to elevation changes.

Caminha - Baiona - Vigo

We will begin the day by crossing the mouth of the Minho River by boat, a unique moment with the ocean on our left. Midway through the stage, we will pass through the walled town of Baiona.

We will leave the fishing village of Baiona behind, with the Atlantic Ocean at our backs, and head up the beautiful Vigo estuary.

We will finish the stage in the port city of Vigo, the birthplace of Galicia’s development.

Vigo - Pontevedra - Caldas de Reis

A stage with continuous ups and downs, spending the whole day navigating through corridors (paths covered by tree branches) and alongside small streams.

It will be a demanding stage as our bodies will start feeling the accumulated kilometers after several days of cycling.

Despite everything, we will be rewarded as we pass through the city of Pontevedra.

Caldas de Reis - Santiago

Our bikes will soar knowing that Santiago is close. We will face some leg-breaking paths, with continuous ups and downs. We will pass through the famous town of Padrón.

Then, we will arrive in Santiago from the south of the city, and these will be the last climbs of the Camino. Surely, some tears of emotion will appear on our faces.

To conclude, we will enjoy a farewell dinner along with the presentation of our well-deserved diploma known as “La Compostela.”

The positive elevation gain of the stage is 500m.

Santiago de Compostela

After breakfast at the hotel, our services will come to an end.

We invite you to take a free tour of the city of Santiago, a guided tour, or visit a museum.

If you plan to take a train from Santiago to another destination, we suggest arranging it in advance as it is a very busy service in the city.

GALLERY OF MEMORIES

F.A.Q.

The Camino VIP by Bike includes accommodation in double rooms with a private bathroom, where you’ll share a room with one person from the group each night (maximum of two people per room).

If you’re traveling as a couple, with family, or with friends, you can choose who you want to share a room with. If you’re traveling solo, we will assign you a roommate of the same gender, who will be your room companion throughout the trip.

Remember, you’ll only share with one person from the group. If you prefer a single room, we can discuss the additional cost for this option.

The Camino is a very popular destination, so it’s possible that in some locations, a single room may not be available.

The support vehicle is reserved exclusively for our walking pilgrims. Therefore, it is not possible to bring a companion who is not participating in the experience.

You can offer your companion the option to join the experience, and they will be able to use our support vehicle if they need to rest or skip a section. We will take care of accompanying and guiding them, while you can enjoy the journey at your own pace.

Please note that this option is available in our Premium Camino versions (customized, by quotation). If you’d like to discuss a Premium Camino package, feel free to contact us at info@zococamino.com.

To take part in this route and successfully complete the 400 km by bike, it’s essential to be in good physical shape. You should be used to riding a bike—especially spending time in the saddle—and know your appropriate speed to help prevent falls.

You don’t need to be an advanced cyclist; a minimum level of preparation is enough. It’s a good idea to start training one or two months before starting the Camino to avoid fatigue or muscle pain during the experience.

If you have any doubts about your fitness or training level, we recommend using an e-bike. You can turn off the pedal assist whenever you want to exercise, and switch it on during the more demanding parts of the route.

The most important preparation is mental: you should be aware that you’ll be stepping out of your comfort zone and immersing yourself in a different culture, while sharing the journey with people from around the world.

We’ll start early each day and ride an average of 50 km. Meal times will differ from what you’re used to, we’ll spend most of our time in rural areas, and it’s possible that it will rain, be cold, or that we’ll have to ride on wet terrain. Nothing a true adventurer can’t embrace.

The base program includes routes with easy elevation gains.

Each pilgrim may bring one suitcase or backpack (maximum 23 kg) on the Camino, which will be transported by vehicle from hotel to hotel. (If you are bringing more luggage with you to Spain, you must leave it in storage in Madrid.)

To get used to the pilgrim way of traveling, avoid bringing unnecessary items. You do **not** need: jewelry, books, elegant or party clothes or shoes, flat iron or hairdryer, towels, sleeping bag, umbrella, or wallets.

**Suggested Packing List:**

– 3 cycling jerseys and 3 cycling shorts
– 1 pair of cycling gloves
– Arm and leg warmers for downhill sections
– 1 pair of adventure pants, preferably zip-off
– 2 spare T-shirts and sport pants for resting or walking
– Swimsuit for the spa
– 1 lightweight long-sleeve shirt
– 1 long-sleeve sweater or sweatshirt (even in summer)
– 2 pairs of sneakers: one for biking, one for walking (make sure they’re not new)
– Shower shoes (flip-flops)
– Seamless synthetic socks
– Underwear for 10 days
– 2 sets of pajamas or sleepwear
– 1 windproof rain jacket
– Cap and sunglasses
– Toiletry bag with basic items
– High-protection sunscreen
– Personal ID and travel documents
– Any medications you take or may need (very important to bring prescriptions)
– 1 lightweight notebook (if you’d like to jot down thoughts or experiences)
– Universal plug adapter

**For selected travel dates, you’ll also need warm clothing:**

– 1 waterproof coat
– Wool hat
– Wool or base layer gloves
– Neck gaiter or scarf

By being part of the ZocoCamino family, you can rent the bike of your choice at the best price and without needing to leave a deposit for possible damage. The bike rental is arranged once you’re in Spain and directly with our provider.

Once in Madrid, aside from the bike rental, please note that lunch and accommodation on day 8 are not included, and our services will officially end upon our return to Madrid.

You may need to bring extra money if you wish to…

– Purchase meals and drinks not specified in the program.
– Upgrade to a single room.
– Bring additional luggage beyond the allowed (1 suitcase or backpack per person).
– Visit monuments that require entrance fees.
– Buy souvenirs.

Yes, you can enjoy this route with children aged 10 and older who have experience with cycling. It is essential that a parent or guardian is responsible for the child and does not leave them alone at any time, even if they choose to rest in the support vehicle.

If the child does not have experience or confidence riding a bike, we recommend choosing the VIP Camino de Santiago Walking Experience.

You can travel with your group privately as long as there are 12 or more people. In this case, you will also enjoy a special 10% discount on the trip’s cost.

If your group is smaller, we will accept additional pilgrims until the 12 spots are filled.

The group must accommodate our available dates for the VIP Camino de Santiago by Bike.

If you wish to experience the journey on your own preferred dates or have a completely private trip as a couple or with a group of fewer than 12 people, you can opt for a Premium Camino by Bike quote.

The VIP Camino, whether by bike or on foot, is a pre-designed experience that takes place in a group on the dates we have selected. The activities and itinerary are carried out without any modifications.

The Premium Camino is the option we offer to design a Camino tailored to your needs. If you wish to travel privately, as a couple, or with your own group, add or remove stages, adjust the number of days, include other activities, etc., the Premium Camino is customized. It is priced based on a quote, as the price varies depending on dates, number of days, stages, activities, and the number of people included.

If you wish to plan a Premium Camino with us, you can contact us at info@zococamino.com.

For us, every season on the Camino de Santiago has its charm. The best time to do it depends more on your personality and travel preferences.

May and September offer pleasant weather and fewer tourists compared to the summer months.

Between March and April, Easter is celebrated with many religious representations, and we also get the first signs of spring.

From June to August, summer takes over, with warmer weather, although temperatures in Galicia are usually not as high as in the rest of Spain. There are more tourists, and the Camino has a livelier atmosphere.

October is the perfect month to experience a change of season and enjoy the colors of nature, the falling leaves, and the beautiful sunsets that autumn provides.
