OUR PROGRAM

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Arrival to Amsterdam

Arrival in Amsterdam. Our team will be waiting for you at the hotel to give you a warm welcome and introduce you to this unique experience we’re about to begin together.

The afternoon will be free for you to rest after the journey, explore the surroundings, or simply relax. Later on, we’ll share a dinner at a traditional restaurant—the perfect moment to get to know all the participants while enjoying a delicious Dutch meal in a cozy atmosphere.

Before heading to the restaurant, we’ll hold a short briefing at our base hotel, where we’ll go over the trip details and answer any questions so we can start the adventure fully informed.

Amsterdam - The Hague

Gather in the hotel lobby after breakfast to pick up the bikes, adjust them to the right size, and start pedaling through the streets of Amsterdam.

We will head towards The Hague. Once we leave the city, we’ll begin our journey to Haarlem, the city that gave its name to the famous New York neighborhood. Along the way, we’ll see the iconic Dutch windmills and ride our bikes through the city center, featuring the impressive St. Bavo’s Church. Then, we’ll continue through a beautiful forest to the dunes by the sea, where much of our cycling trip will take place.

Upon arrival in The Hague, before exploring the city, we’ll have lunch at a seaside restaurant.

The Hague - Ouddorp

We will follow completely flat bike paths, with no difficulty. We’ll start by cycling alongside one of The Hague’s main canals, surrounded by green landscapes, windmills, and grazing cows.

Soon we’ll arrive in Delft, one of the most beautiful cities in the Netherlands, full of canals and medieval architecture. It’s well worth strolling through its Town Hall square.

The route continues to surprise us as we head toward Maassluis, another charming city by a canal that connects to the port of Rotterdam. There, we’ll take a ferry to cross with the bikes.

After a few more kilometers, we’ll arrive at the hotel.

Ouddorp - Middelburg

Today will be a relaxing day cycling through beautiful sunflower fields and green meadows; but we will also cross the great Dutch sea dikes, a true engineering marvel. Along the way, we’ll share the meadows with stunning views of the North Sea.

Middelburg is the main city of the Dutch province of Zeeland, located in the south of the country and bordering the Flanders region in neighboring Belgium. Zeeland is practically a collection of islands connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land.

Although it’s not usually included in typical Dutch routes, we assure you it’s a charming and cozy little city well worth visiting.

Middelburg - Bruges

Today, an exciting day awaits us: we’ll depart from Middelburg, a peaceful and charming city, to cross the border and reach the stunning Bruges.

The route winds through rural landscapes, green meadows, canals, and small Flemish villages that exude calm and tradition.
We’ll cycle through low, fertile lands, gradually noticing the shift from the Netherlands to Belgium: the architecture becomes sturdier, the rooftops steeper, and the atmosphere more serene.

Bruges, with its network of canals, cobblestone squares, and medieval buildings, is a Flemish gem that feels frozen in time. A perfect ending to a day filled with nature, history, and beauty.

Bruges - Ghent

Today, we’ll leave behind the magical Bruges to head toward another Flemish gem: the vibrant city of Ghent. The route between them is a feast for the senses, passing through rural areas, tranquil canals, and small villages where life moves slowly.

It’s a comfortable and pleasant stage, perfect for enjoying the scenery and losing yourself in the rhythm of pedaling.
As we approach Ghent, the surroundings become livelier and more urban. This city perfectly blends medieval charm with a youthful, contemporary energy. Gothic towers, facades reflected in the water, and a vibrant cultural scene welcome us.

A short but richly rewarding stage, connecting two of Belgium’s most beautiful cities in a single day.

Ghent - Brussels

The final day of our cycling journey, and what better way to bid farewell than by pedaling from vibrant Ghent to Belgium’s capital, Brussels. The route offers a final taste of Flemish landscapes: quiet villages, open fields, and winding paths through green areas and canals.

As we progress, the scenery gradually shifts. We leave behind the rural calm and enter the bustle of the big city. Brussels greets us with its avenues, multicultural energy, and blend of architectural styles.

Our arrival marks the end of a journey filled with discoveries, unforgettable landscapes, and fairytale cities.

One last ride that wraps up this adventure with a sense of accomplishment, joy, and stories to take home.

Brussels - Airport

In the morning, after enjoying a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel, we will provide a scheduled airport transfer for those who wish to use this service.

We will ensure everything is organized to make your departure as comfortable and smooth as possible.

With heartfelt gratitude for all the moments we’ve had the opportunity to share with you during this journey, and with hearts full of unforgettable memories, we will conclude our services, wishing you an excellent return home.

GALLERY OF MEMORIES

F.A.Q.

The Northern Europe by Bike experience includes accommodation in double rooms with private bathrooms, where you will share a room each night with one person from the group (maximum of two people per room).

If you’re traveling as a couple, with family, or with friends, you can choose who you want to stay with. If you’re traveling alone, we will pair you with someone of the same gender who will be your roommate for the entire trip.

Remember that you will only share with one person from the group. If you prefer a single room, we can discuss the extra cost involved.

The support vehicle is reserved exclusively for our bike travelers. Therefore, it is not possible to bring a companion who is not participating in the experience.

You can offer your companion the option to join the experience, and they will have access to our support vehicle if they need to rest or skip a section. We will ensure they are accompanied and guided, allowing you to enjoy at your own pace.

Remember that this option is available in our Premium travel version (customized, with pricing upon request). If you would like to discuss a Premium Camino, please write to us at info@zococamino.com.

To participate in this route and achieve your goal of cycling 345 km, it’s essential to be in good physical shape. You should be comfortable riding a bike, especially with the saddle, and familiar with your suitable speed to avoid falls.

You don’t need to be an advanced cyclist; a minimum level of preparation is sufficient. It’s advisable to start training one or two months before your trip to prevent fatigue or muscle soreness during the experience.

If you have any doubts about your fitness and training level, we recommend using an electric bike. You can keep the pedal assistance off when you want to exercise and turn it on during more challenging moments.

The most crucial preparation is mental. Be aware that you will be stepping outside your comfort zone and engaging with a different culture while sharing experiences with people from various parts of the world.

We will wake up early each day and cover an average of 50 km. Meal times will differ from what you’re used to, and we will spend most of our time in rural environments. Be prepared for the possibility of rain, cold weather, or cycling on wet terrain. But nothing a daring spirit can’t handle!

Each traveler may bring one suitcase or backpack weighing a maximum of 23 kg to the experience, which will be transported from hotel to hotel.

Avoid bringing unnecessary luggage. You do not need: jewelry, books, fancy clothes or shoes, hair straighteners or dryers, towels, sleeping bags, umbrellas, or wallets.

Suggested Packing List:

  • 3 cycling jerseys and 3 cycling shorts.
  • 1 pair of bike gloves.
  • Arm and leg warmers for descending hills.
  • 1 pair of adventure pants, preferably convertible.
  • 2 t-shirts and athletic pants for resting and walking.
  • Swimsuit for the spa.
  • 1 lightweight long-sleeve shirt.
  • 1 sweater or long-sleeve sweatshirt (also in summer).
  • 2 pairs of sports shoes, one for biking and one for walking. It is important that they are not new.
  • Shower shoes (flip-flops).
  • Seamless synthetic socks.
  • Underwear for 10 days.
  • 2 pajamas or sleepwear.
  • 1 windproof rain jacket.
  • Cap and sunglasses.
  • Toiletries bag with basic items.
  • High SPF sunscreen.
  • Personal documentation.
  • Medications you take or may need (very important to bring the prescription).
  • 1 lightweight notebook (if you wish to jot down your thoughts or experiences).
  • Universal plug adapter.

On some selected dates, you will need the following warm clothing items:

  • 1 waterproof jacket.
  • Wool hat.
  • Wool gloves or base-layer gloves.
  • Neck gaiter or scarf.

By being part of the ZocoCamino family, you can rent the bike of your choice at the best price and without needing to leave a deposit for potential damages. The bike rental is done when you are in Spain and directly with our supplier.

In addition to the bike rental, you should keep in mind that lunch and accommodation on day 8 are not included, and our services will conclude the morning after our stay in Brussels.

You may need to bring extra money if you wish to…

  • Purchase meals and drinks not specified in the itinerary.

  • Upgrade to a single room.

  • Bring extra luggage beyond the allowed limit (1 suitcase or backpack per person).

  • Visit paid monuments.

  • Buy souvenirs.

Yes, you can enjoy this route with children aged 10 and up who have biking experience. It’s necessary for a parent or family member to be responsible for their care and never leave them alone, even if they choose to rest in the support vehicle.

If the child lacks biking experience or confidence, we recommend choosing the VIP Camino de Santiago Walking experience instead.

You can travel with your group privately as long as there are 12 or more people. In this case, you will also enjoy a special discount of 10% on the trip cost.

If your group is smaller, we will accept more travelers until we reach the 12 spots.

The group must fit our available dates for the Eastern Europe by Bike experience.

If you wish to have the experience on your chosen dates or a completely private trip for a couple or with a group of less than 12 people, you can opt to quote a Premium Bike Path.

The VIP Camino, whether by bike or on foot, is a pre-designed experience that takes place in a group on selected dates. The activities and route are carried out without any modifications. All services are included, so pilgrims don’t have to worry about anything once they are with us. We provide daily picnic setups and include all meals, making it a VIP service.

The Northern Europe by Bike experience is not a VIP trip; it only includes half board, meaning breakfast and either lunch or dinner. Therefore, it is not an all-inclusive trip. We also do not set up catering like we do on the Camino de Santiago. In this experience, all meals are at restaurants, and a small snack is provided for the route.

Our Premium trips are the option we offer for you to design a tailored journey with us. If you want to come privately to one of our experiences, as a couple or with your own group, you can add or remove stages, increase or decrease the number of days, include other activities, etc. Premium trips are priced upon request, as the cost varies depending on the dates, number of days, stages, activities, and number of people included.**

**If you wish to plan a Premium trip with us, you can contact us at info@zococamino.com.

The Northern Europe by bike experience only takes place during the summer.

The months of June to August have pleasant weather and much less heat than in the southern part of Europe. We might even experience some cold or drizzly days. But above all, during the summer, we enjoy very pleasant weather that even allows us to enjoy our route.
